Home Again! Yaaay!
Well we're now back in Australia... Brisbane to be precise... HOME! Man Australia really is the greatest country on Earth!!! There's nothing like a trip overseas to really reinforce that.

Ellianah met us at the airport and with HUGE smiles and squeels of delight, she ran over to me and shouted HELLO! at the top of her lungs followed by HUGE kisses and cuddles... You have NO idea how good that felt! I have been really missing Elli and hanging out big time for a kiss and cuddle. She even made a little sign for us saying "Welcome home Mum and Dad! I love you!" It was sooo cute. (Thanks to my awesome Mum for picking us up and bringing our princess too).

So the trip home was pretty good. I managed to get a fwe nice naps in and watched a couple of movie and just all round vegged. What else can you do really?

Our last day in Bangkok started out very disorganised... After breakfast, we went of to the central park and watch crazy Thai morning "exerise-ers". Some were running, some were jogging, some were doing Thai Chi and some were doing weird shit that I've never seen before.. I think it might have been attempts at stretching. There was also a weird outdoor gym type thing in the middle.

After a little walk in the park, we headed for Baiyoke tower, only to find that it wasn't open and would open later at 10:30 so we had a few hours to kill. So we went for a bit of a snoop at the local markets and then snuck off to the Grand Palace. Adam had to get some longer pants on so that Buddha wasn't blinded. The Palace is really quite spectacular. It was good to finally get to tick it off our list, especially since the first time we tried to see it we were sent on a wild goose chase. Next time I go to Thailand I'll know... Don't trust anyone!

Back to Baiyoke tower and right to the top for a peek of Bangkok from the air then a nice sugar loaded drink each then up another floor (to the 83rd floor) for the revolving deck and a 360 degree view of smoggy Bangkok. It was a fairly "clear" day for Bangkok so we got a pretty good view of a crazy, busy, horn happy city.

We did sooo much walking that I thought my legs were gonna drop off... And we hadn't even started shopping yet! I guess it was made worse by the fact that there are sooo many people rushing in all directions and the smog and heat and traffic and people starring doin't make it much to walk around.

Anyway... so we made it to MBK where I did a spot of shopping by myself.. While Adam went to print our photos... (all 2600 of them!!!! Long story..) I'm sorry to say to Emma and Andrea... but I didn't really like MBK... I think due to he fact that it's sooo huge and I didn't have a lot of time and that I didn't feel comfortable bartering with them co it felt just like Carindale... hahaha! But anyway, I got a few things and DID barter anyway... Earlier in the day, I had decided that if I had time I'd get my hair cut and my nails redone... No time for the nails... but the hair....... HAHAHAHA!!! Here's a good story... (Dannii will especially like this...)

I got a flyer from some random Thai guy and it said 180B for a hair cut.. I wsa like cool! This is a sign... and it's like cheap as... Less than AUS$7. So off I go to find the hair dresser.... I get there and it's MASSIVE! I talked to a few people, most of who don't speak very good English and said I'd like my hair cut... So I'm lead to get my hair washed which was nice... as I got a bit of a head massage as well... Then I looked at some pics (tough all the models were Asian and non of them had curly hair) to choose a style for me... I was going to go for something short so I'd get my Afro back... I showed the lady and since she didn't speak English, she showed her work mate (who was actually once a boy) who said "Oh, no good, coz when you wash it go BOOF!" I was like ok.. what do you think? and she said "Make like this, layer, same same like me..." (pointing to her hair) I was like ok... that can't do much harm, since it would require to cut only a little bit...

So the lady starts blow drying my hair, meanwhile I'm wondering if they've EVER worked with curly hair before.... Blow drying my hair is NOT a good idea ever! It just goes to FRIZZ and serious full on AFRO! I could feel some eyes on me. Anyway, she gets the hair straightener out (my worst enemy) and off she goes... I just sat back and let them go for it and figured I'd not be able to communicate my thoughts and I was feeling daring and just wanted the experience... So then there were two chicks trying to straighten my 'fro and they were getting frustrated!! I'd have laughed in their faces if they weren't yanking my hair so hard and yielding sharp scissors. Once my hair was all straight, she proceeded to cut.. As I pressumed, she didn't take much off... and she did indeed layer it and then tried to make it sit like an Asian's hair does... Didn't work! Solly! Also, they ended up charging me 300B instead of the 180B that it was advertised at. I didn't fight them coz they did take a while to get it done and 300B is like AUS$10 or something... And lets face it, I can earn more money sleeping than they can cutting hair all day...

So in the end I look like a total tool, but hey, who gives a shit, everyone stared me the whole time anyway, so why not give them a bonus...

I went upstairs to meet up with Adam (who didn't recognise me at first) and when he saw me he shook his head, then laughed, then said "you look Asian" then took a photo... hahaha... We did a bit of shopping... and I went to the bathroom, then washed my hands (as you do) and ran my wet hands through my hair.... Not a good idea... So now the top layer of my hair was half curly/frzz/after sex messy look and the rest was straight like horse hair (Neeeeeeeeeeee)... I looked shocking...

Anyway... after a big afternoon at the shops, we head back to the hotel where we prepared for the night markets and i took the time to wet my hair and get the REAL me back... my curls!! Upon doing this, I lookd in the mirror at my wet hair and noticed I now have a "Mullet"... Yep... Party in the front, business in the back.... Coz she cut it while it was straight, she cut the front quite short and left the back fairly long to give it that layered look.... But curls, they don't give a rats.. They do what ever the hell they like... so Dannii, now we both have shit hair doos... BUT... At least our hair will grow back... hehehe I did get us some cute head bands for our hair... but unfortunately, we won't be able to use them... Keep reading...

Moral of the story?? Don't get your hair cut in Thailand and don't expect anyone to stick to their word when money is involved....

So why can't we use our head bands...?? Coz they were in Adam's back pack, which is somewhere in Thailand in the back of some guys taxi or being pawned as we speak. That's right.. Adam left his bag in the back of a taxi... It had some of my shopping triumphs and some other crap, but most importantly, it had our beloved Camera in it... I of course cried (anyone who knows me well will know how nuts I am about photos) and our CDs of photos from Thailand... (Luckily we had them printed.. but we don't have a hard copy now) So we talked to a lady at our Hotel who tried to be helpful... and apart from making a phone call and communicating in Thai, that's about all she could do. We sat outside trying to remembed anything we could about the events leading up to the loosing of the bag when I noticed the security guy writing stuff down everytime a car pulled in... I figured it had to be information about the cars and events (aren't I smart and observant!!) so I went and asked him and he was able to give us a little bit of info (number plate etc...) which we took to the Thai Tourist Police. We filed a report (so hopefully our travel insurance will cover it) and then were told to hope for the best.... but also to not hold our breaths! The driver of the taxi we think we left it in, didn't leave us with a good lasting impression, since the trip cost us 37B and Adz gave him 40B and he just waited for us to get out and didn't lift a finger or even pretend to look for change. Oh well... It could have been worse...

I should mention the taxi trip previous to this left me with a sour face.... The taxi driver was fairly nice to begin with.. Nice, funny, chatty... Then he decided to joke about my size and tried to tell me that I weigh 200 kilos and wanted to pull over at a 7/11 so I could weigh myself to satisfy his curiosity... I was like NO! Rude little fucker! I should have dnapped him in half... Prior to this, we had made an arragement with him to take us to the airport at 4 in the morning for 500B, but when we got out, he said "I see you in the morning" and Adam told him no... then slammed the door in his face. Needless to say, we didn't use his services... We got a random METERED taxi off the street and it ended up costing only about 180B but Adam gave the dude 300B for his troubles.

So that was our last day in Bangkok! We woke up at like 6 in the morning and went to bed at like 1am... then had to get up at 3:30am... So we didn't get much sleep and were like Zombies for the rest of the morning but this also allowed us to get some sleep during the flight.

So when we pulled up to our house, the FIRST thing I noticed was our yard had been mowed (front and back) AND our path had been weeded... Guess Who!?? It was our awesome friend ED! Not only did he look after our humble home while we we're gone, but he also did our yard AND did the shopping. We opened the fridge and what do we find?? Bacon, eggs, muffin, yoghurt, tim-tams, milk, CC's (the alcoholic version) beer and cider and a gorgeous note telling us how much he loves us... Well Ed - You're the best and I'm sure you already know that! We are very grateful for such a great mate like you. Thank you soooo much for everything... We owe you BIG time... Well, breakfast at the very least! We're gonna miss you lots next year when you leave! :'(

It's good to be home! I'm still singing " I still call Australia home" in my head... hehehe

Peace Out!

Bangmakok!
(That was actually Bangkok's original name until some Westerner shortened it to Bangkok... The probably couldn't say it and keep a straight face... hehe)

Lucky it wasn't an Aussie that shortened it... Coz it'd just be called Kok! Hahaha!

So anyway, we're here in Bangkok at the MBK centre... WOW! This place is NUTZ! I don't even know where to begin... but I'm thinking I might shack up here tonight and get a good look at what's here for the morning.... hehehe I wish!

Travel today wasn't too bad... Rather quick actually... maybe it;s coz I actually managed to sleep a little during transit (for once) which probably made it seem shorter... But you know what's funny.. We've taken like 6 different modes of transport today... Longtail, Car, Airoplane, Bus, Train and Taxi...

Hopefully get tot he Grand Palace tomorrow and then do some crazy shopping... Really wanna get our photos done but the place we saw tonight wanted like (AUS$) 14cents per pic.... Surely we can get them cheaper... This is Kok after all... The land of cheaper...

Ooops... gotta go... Adam is getting impatient and apparently this place is closing like now... So seeya! Will update again either tomorrow or when I get home...

Love you all!

Peace Out...

Railay Bay Resort
So today we are leaving Railay for Bangkok. We have two more nights left of our honeymoon. I think we are both a little over Thailand… or perhaps it’s the fact that we both miss Elli sooooo much.

Our time here on Railay has been pretty good but not without it’s crazy moments.

Where should I start? Perhaps at the beginning?

Ok, so on Thursday morning, we left our hotel at Patong and dragged our bags and our selves to the main strip to wait for another “not sure if it will come” bus. It did come… just as the rain did as well. It rained for most of the trip. So we headed into Phuket Town and got off on possibly the busiest street in the town, I think it was off a roundabout too. So we were harassed for a taxi ride, which we said no to coz they were all trying to rip us off. We decided to get out the map and find the bus station for ourselves on foot. So we head off and got a few beeps on the way… Looking back, it wasn’t far to walk but it seemed like it coz the streets were very narrow and hard to pull our bags along.

We made it to the bus station and jumped on a bus heading for Krabi. On the bus we met a little Thai guy who worked at a travel agency in Krabi who of course wanted us to come to his agency and book something so he could make a commission. We did actually go there and we did book some things and he did make some money but he was also grateful and a little helpful, so we’re ok with it. We had already booked our accommodation for Railay Bay but when they travel agent called, they were told that there was no room for us coz we only booked and didn’t pay any money so they didn’t keep a room for us and it was apparently very busy. So after a bit of messing around, we eventually got a room at Railay but it had two single beds. Not really to ideal for your honeymoon. But we booked it, told them to move the beds together and moved on. We actually got a sweet deal, 3 nights for the price of two… But was it really a sweet deal? Into a taxi we go (with two young Pommy girls – very nice and fun) and off to Aonang to get the boat to Railay. Pissing down rain, we jump on a long tail (not the best boat to catch in the rain) and headed for Railay (which is only accessible by boat due to the huge rocks blocking land access).

We were soaked, our bags were soaked and everything was soaked. The boat driver dropped us at the wrong end of the beach and so we actually went to the wrong resort. So back out into the rain we go and head for the right resort. We check in and at this point we are told that to have the 3rd night free, we must pay for a compulsory breakfast, which was 350B each… RIP OFF!! So the third night was not free after all… But is anyone really surprised? We got a bit miffed at the reception guy coz we didn’t know about this little catch. So we called the travel agency guy and had a bit of a go at him and he said he didn’t know either… So we asked for a free breakfast and the guy said he’d speak to the manager.. and since we haven’t checked out yet, we’re not sure if it was free or not… but it certainly isn’t worth the money they are charging for it.

So, the morning we left Patong, we both took of our wrist bands that were given to us at the “temple in the sky” by the monk and his mate. As it turns out, doing that was not a good idea. We had some great misfortune that followed.

1. The weather was crap as… For a last fling on a beautiful island, rain was not what we ordered.

2. The single beds

3. Being dooped into paying for breakfast

4. Our power kept going out in our room…

5. This is the doozy… We realized that we didn’t actually have any money and though we transferred some into our overseas account, it wouldn’t go through until Tuesday which was useless, coz that’s when we leave. So we walked around for most of Friday morning freakin out about how we’re going to pay for stuff.

At this point, Adam found his wrist band in his wallet and said that it’s been since he’s taken it off that we’ve had some bad luck. So he put it back on.

After a walk along the other side of the island, we headed back to our side of the island trying to think of ways to access money quickly. We thought about maybey trying to withdraw money from the credit card, but Adz couldn’t remember his pin… And there was really no other way to get money in a hurry, especially since the weekend was approaching and the time difference was a pain in the butt too. We saw an ATM on the way back from our walk and I noticed it had the “cirrus” logo, ya know the one? If you have a deit card that also has that logo you can use it. So we shrug our shoulders in a “why not..” kind of way and give it a bang and hey presto! CASH!!! We both just laughed…. After spending an entire night and most of a beautiful day worrying about money… we were saved! Thank heavens for “cirrus”!

So from here on we seemed to have a change of luck. We only had a little more rain and the rest of the time the weather was good. Things were cool. Until….

Last night… I mentioned earlier how our power kept tripping… Well it wasn’t a problem until yesterday and last night. We were having a nap and the power went out, but it didn’t matter as we were going out anyway. We told the office and they fixed it for us. Then when we got home after a big afternoon, the power tripped again and stayed off for a few hours. We told the office who fixed it again and off we went to have a yummy dinner next door at the neighboring resorts restaurant.

When we got home, the power was back on again so we settled in to watch a movie and have a couple of drinks then BAM! Out goes the power. Adam decided to go and investigate and found the safety switch has tripped. So he flicked it back on and away we went, until BAM! Off it goes again… This went on for 20 minutes or so til we got jack of it and told the office again. We waited for 20 minutes or so for someone to come and fix it and they were a no show. So we did the safety switch thing ourselves again and the power just wouldn’t stay on. We went back to the office and told them again and the said, the power was back on and I tried to explain that it wouldn’t stay on. Both frustrated by now, we had to have them see it for themselves, which they did thank God. So off we went to a better room that has a pool all of its own, a double bed (which wasn’t very comfy but still…) and ELECTRICITY! So we had a nice evening watching Superman and sipping scotch (well I was, Adz was having his usual girly drinks) then we slept comfortably in air conditioning. How lucky is that?! After some crappy stuff comes some good stuff.

Anyway…

We also went Kayaking yesterday… And though we had a few “moments” scratching out each other eye balls and arguing, we’re still married and still love each other. We visited another beach and went for a walk to a small cave where we found a shrine for Buddha and a whole bunch of wooden penises… That’s right… Doodles! Some big, some small, some short and fat and some long and skinny. We’re not sure what it was all about, but it was interesting all the same. We’re still curious about this one. We think they might be some kind of offering or else it’s just a local joke to get people like us questioning.

Peace Out…

Great Day Island Hopping!
What a day! We got a wake up call at like 6:00am from the hotel staff... Had some delicious breakfast at about 7:00ish and then off to Port Hopper Resort to grab some snorkel gear and hitch a ride to the "jetty" (which was actually a plank of wood about a foot high and about 4 foot long) to board the boat.

The ride out to Phi Phi was long but pretty cool. The boat (had three outboards) was quite fast and a little rough over some of the waves made by other boats, but was cool. We just had a quick look at Phi Phi, we didn't actually get off. We then went around to Monkey beach and had a snorkel in the water not to far from shore. Adz and I took this opportunity to swim to shore and get up close and personal with the monkeys. Then on the swim back tot he boat, my left flipper broke so my swim was a little longer... Lucky I have big muscles and am a good swimmer. Once back on the boat, we travelled the 100 or so meters to shore by boat (Duh! Could have just stayed on the beach and met them there...) to get up close and personal with the monkeys again... By this time there were STACKS of other tourists trying to feed them and not loose an arm or an eye.

(A little worried about Adz right now. He went to the scooter man a while ago to get our deposits back and had not returned.... Hmmm... Hope he wasn't rolled.../ He should be collecting 6000B)

Back to the day...

After Monkey beach we did a doughy around a huge and gorgeous lagoon and bay where I think some of "The Beach" was filmed. Then off to Maya Bay where most of the film was made. We did some swimming and snorkeling here and it was great. We also went ashore and did a little bit of snooping... We saw the tail end of Lohsama (Bin Ladden - hehehe) Bay. I love snorkeling. I feel safer in the water than I do on a scooter... hehehe...

We then went to another beach to "relax" but it was absolutely PACKED! Every single other Island tour boat (about 12 in all, most of which had at least 35 passengers and one which might have had 50 or more, plus a few long tails) was there as well trying to "relax". There were also some people there trying to sell drinks. Imagine that, someone in Thailand trying to sell you something... Weird.

While on this beach, looking back to the mainland, you could see it was pissing down! There were huge storm clouds in the sky moving towards us. The dark clouds were right over head, but we missed the rain, luckily. The water got very choppy so the ride home was rough as guts. The boat was slapping the water so hard I thought either it'd snap, or I would from the shock of it hitting the water so hard.

Back on land, we headed home (so I could get on the pooter and write this) and now we are waiting for our transfer to the "FantaSea" show. Can't wait... Mostly for the food for now coz I am STARVING! Our tour was a half day tour (still took like 8 hours though)and the cheapest one and didn't include lunch, so we were limited to on board snacks, which were good, but now I need some real food!

(OK Adam's back now... all is good!)

Apparently the buffet tonight is amazing. The tour dude just stopped in to give me an overview of what will happen and he said the food hall seats 4000 people and the food consists of an international menu from 5 different countries! I hope Australia is one of them... Coz I'm really hankering for a decent steak!

Anyway... Adam is hanging for the computer I think so I had better say bye...

BYE!

Nee x x x

PS - We met some fellow Aussies today.. They're from Perth. Nice folk. We might see them tonight at the show... Copy cats. :D

PPS - I'm only writing this one to annoy Adam... hehehe :P

PPPS - And this one...

PPPPS - Sorry about the poor sphelling and grandma! :D

Phuket + Scooter + Nee = Bad x 7
Arrrrhggghhhh!!!!!!

That's the first thing that comes to mind when I reflect on today.

Firstly, it was fairly late when we got moving and by the time we finally decided what to do, it was scorching hot out. We went for a walk to the main drag and decided to hire scooters (after much of my umming and arring about whether or not to agree to such a thing). The first guy we asked wanted 200B, so we said nope and kept walking. We went to another lady who quoted the same price and said we needed our passports and licences. Adam had his licence and I didn't and neither of us had our passports.. That to me was a sign.. Telling me NOT to do it, but for Adam's sake I ignored this sign. Not sure that was such a good idea.

We took off into the crazy traffic and went up over ridiculous, mountainous hills which obviously means you have to go down the other side! This was scary as hell for me. The curves in the road freaked me out, and the closeness of the rest of the traffic even more so. As if I wasn't freaked out enough, I had every arsehole under the sun beeping at me! Who ever allowed Thai vehicles to have horns was obviously drunk or stoned at the time of the decision.

So we made it to somewhere, where the traffic was just as crazy as Patong due to the speed at which everyone was driving. Here's me scooting along the side of the road at a top speed of 30kph, trying to avoid being killed. I beeped at Adam to stop so we could decide where the hell we were and where the hell we were supposed to be. Once we did that, we had to go over more ridiculous, mountainous, curvacious hills (AND down the other side of each of hill!). On one particularly narrow and busy hill, I was nearly killed! I was going slow but was as far over to the left as humanly possible. Along comes a big ute type thingy who starts to move closer to me as the road gets narrower, so I slow down even more to avoid death and the along comes an impatient sedan who wants to get past and next thing I hear is a huge screetching of tires and horns and all I could do was look straight ahead and hope to God that the screetching didn't get closer to me and end with me on the road in a heap.

Finally made it to somewhere else, Kata beach I think and had a swim to try and relax, but al I could think about was the damn scoot home.

We had lunch at a nice place (yummy steak and club sandwiches - Miss "western" food) and that was good coz I forgot about it for a while. Then Adam suggested we go further South to the cape and have a look at the view point there... Me.. I wanted to go home and WALK somewhere! Adam was all like "It will be an easy ride, nice and flat and quiet" EEERRRHHH!! WRONG! Much of the same muchness as before! And more of me freaking out and cars honking etc... We stopped somewhere for a breather where I nearly crashed into some old Thai guy. That was embarrassing. The view point was quite nice except we didn't take the camera, so I have no evidence of my survival to that point. After this we headed right for home which was a long journey, since we didn't make any stops. And as before, I was scared shitless the whole way home. Once we got back into Patong TRAFFIC!!! Arrrghhh... It was crazy.. And the beach front street is two lanes of one way traffic chaos. Here's me in the left lane trying to keep up and stay out the way. Of course the turn off to our hotel was a right turn. So bravely, I have to "weave" my way through the traffic to get to the other side and make a swift turn - into a street where you drive on the right side of the ride... Weird and crazy and confusing all rolled into one.

So my day wasn't as exciting as Adam's.. BUT! I bloody did it and I'm still alive! I won't be doing it again (Not in crazy no road rules Thailand anyway)and I certainly won't be ignoring the Gods that are watching over me and giving me clues and signs for some of the many decisions I have to make in life.

Tomorrow, we are doing an Island hop... YAY! We will be visiting a bunch of Islands around the Coast, including "Monkey Island" (where I believe I have a cousin or two there) and we will see wild monkeys everywhere, even swimming in the water. We are set to see crystal clear water and white sandy beaches and some pretty amazing cave and awesome snorkeling. Sounds better than a scooter ride! :P

THEN...

Tomorrow night we are going to see the Phuket FantaSea show. Looks very touristy and right up my ally!

THEN...

We're off to complete a part of this holiday that I have been waiting for... We're going to stay in a beautiful resort in Railay Bay where I will be doing... NOTHING! Just lazing on the beach or by the pool or in the spa and drinking delicious tropical cocktails. Yaaaaaay!!!

PS - The place we are staying at here in Patong (Amanta House) is really nice. It's not far from all the action. The room is gorgeous (OLIVE GREEN everything!!) It's right next door to Jungle Boys... A gay bar!!! As I've been typing this blog entry, my sound track has been such hits as "I will survive", Village people songs, Celine Dion and Gay Thai Boy squeels (of delight I guess)...
October 14
Good Bye Chiangmai (Hey, that rhymes!) :P
Well, tonight is our last night in Chiangmai... Sad but true. Sad because so far (even though it's only been a short journey) this has been the nicest place to visit. But we are off to Phuket tomorrow and I am looking forward to seeing another part of Thailand.

So... our adventures?? I know my blog isn't as exciting as Adam's, so I'll let him do all the detailed recounts of what we've been doing and I'll just do what I know best... Ramble. PS - I won't be checking grammar/spelling.. Instead I'll blame my impossibly long nails (which have grown since the wedding) and the damn Thai keyboards.)

I wanted to writr yesterday about my adventures, but the damn computer I was using was shite so I gave in.

Elephant Conservation Centre
WOW! I had a wonderful time! I think Elephants are such interesting creatures and I've never seen one up close and personal before so for me it was sooo fantastic to finally get to do this. We saw them bathe, and walked with them up to the show area where we saw them do all sorts of Non-Elelphant things... It was cool! Two of them did a painting, which was clever then we fed them after the show AND I (or should I say WE) bought the painting done by the little Elephant. It's sooo cool! He painted flowers! Adam's a biut iffy about it. He says the mahout did all the work, but I disagree. The mahout gave the elephant orders and told him what to do. He also chose the colours and dipped the brush etc, but the Elephant DID the painting. Elephants don't paint normally, so I was totally blown away by what he did. I can't wait to show it off... Anyway, though Adam and I disagree on "who" painted the picture we both agree the money went to a good cause. Everything we spent our money on went straight back into the conservation centre. We went for an elephant ride which was slow and steady, but apparently that sort of thing wins races? Anyway, it was great, even though the driver understood no Enlgish, mean while I was asking him questions and he was nodding and smiling! The elephant also decided to do a big wee and a big poo (do elephants do anything other than BIG?) We went for a walk after that and saw a baby elephant and he was just adorable. His Mum was very welcoming too. We got to feed and touch and them they were both very gentle. The baby was so soft. I just wanted to jump in there and cuddle him and probably get trampled by the Mum in the process.

As Adam has already said, we had to try and get a bus home, which meant hot footing across the "super high way" and walking along the side of the road while cars, trucks, buses etc sped by.. I didn't feel safe and made my point clear to Adam who says I was whinging. He'd be whining if something went horribly wrong. Yes it started raining and THEN I started to whing, which is what I do when I'm a little scared and un-sure. But a FULL bus came along and picked us up. The bus ride was shit not just coz it was uncomfortable, but because of the jeers and laughter when I got on. Here in "friendly" Thailand, people are for some reason amused by someone of my size. I realise that most Thai people are tiny and they probably don't see too many large people, but surely they know what tact is. Adam doesn't notice, but I do. Since I've had to deal with this kind of shit my entire life, I know what's going on, even when it's not said in my language. The bus aisle was very small, as most of them are and we had to sit on a litle plastic stool right in the middle, which was great entertainment for most passengers, especially the part where they had to lift the arm rests so I could fit. I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat for the entire journey, just like I do now recounting this exprience. I wish I had a before and after shot to shove in their faces of me now and me last year.. There's a god damn 20kg difference! Mostly I try to ignore it and get on with it but that bus trip was my WORST experience in Thailand. Even the uncomfortable 12 hour train ride was better than that trip.

Other wise, a great day!

Yesterday we met Uncle Brian's good friend Nikom who was just what the doctor ordered. He was very friendly and easy to talk to. He took us to many places (refer to Adam's rants) and we had a great day. I think the snake farm was our highlight as we got a fair bit of snakey attention from the handlers, thus becoming part of the show... It was a nice kind of attention. Last night we went to the Old Chiangmai Cultural Centre (recomended by Nikom) and the food and entertainment was awesome! I also loved the monkey school. For some strange reason, I felt at home there... hahaha! There was a cheeky little baby monkey that we got to touch.. He was soooooo cute! The tribal village was pretty good too. We weren't really sure what to expect. But what we got was satisfying. Though the place we visited was not their "natural habitat" as such, it was a little look into what it's like. I actually liked it better because if we'd actually gone to their real villiage where they live, I'd have felt like we were intruding. The most interesting thing about it was the long necks. They look differnt and for that reason I thought they'd be fairly much still into their culture, but the girls we saw were listening to loud music through a battery operated boom box. A strange sight. But I bought some hand made goodies from some of the tribes people which are lovely.

Today, we went out again with Nikom and also his brother. Another nice day. We went up Doi Suthep to the huge temple in the sky. It was very spiritual for me. Nikom guided us through the experience and I felt very relaxed at the end. We spoke to a monk who was very "soothing". He "blessed" (?) us and splashed us with water... I'm not sure what to call all that, and I hope that my description doesn't sound disrespectful. I really enjoyed it.

Down the mountain again and we did some touristy type things like visit factories and their shops. I enjoyed this and would have happily spent lots of money, but Adam on the other hand. He's very suspicious of some Thai activity... Probably coz of our past experiences with the scammers.

We went on a river cruise. Though the river was stinky and the car engine mounted on the back of the boat was stinky AND noisy, it was very relaxing. We got to see some Thai backyards. Very interesting. I had myself a little kip on the way up the river, the car motor strangely soothing.

Talking to Nikom about his family, he told us a little about his work (as a tuk-tuk driver) and how he is working hard to provide for his family and especially his son, who wants to go to university next year. Apparently university is pretty expecnsive but a good opportunity (much like it is at home) and a good stepping stone for young people. I don't want to big note us, but as a sign of our appreciation for his kindness and sincerity, we gave Nikom 3000baht to put towards his sons university fees. We both agreed this would be a nice gesture, however Adam has since said that he hopes we didn't offend him, something I never thought about. But since all the Thai people we have met have had no problem accepting money from us (sometimes more than was fair) it should be ok. Our good deed for the day.

There has been so much to write about in these last few days, but this is what has stuck in my memory. Hope you are all well and good. We miss you all and look forward to our return to share more stories and photos with you!

Something I saw today and really admired... "There is no way to peace... Peace is the way"...

Peace Out!

Having fun!
Had a big walk today... actually it probably wasn't really that far... Just that you have to always be on the look out of scooters and cars etc so that you don't get hit... So I think that adds to the effort...

We saw some pretty aqwesome temples today... I think my favourite was the one with the big Buddha inside.. Oh wait.. they all have a big Buddha inside... hehehe.. No really... I did enjoy all of todays sights..

I had a tarot reading by a strange Canadian man today... It was only 100B so I couldn't resist... Funny thing is, I just did my own tarot cards like 3 days before we left and I had a very similar reading today.... It was all about success with finance and new ventures and sharing my wealth with those less fortunate and being brave enough to take on new ventures and also about letting go of past conflict and moving on in life... That's the short version... :D

Anyway... I don't really have much else to say.. I guess I'd rather show you all pictures and talk about it when I get home... Plus, I'm shit at soeaking Thai and so I can't pronounce or remember the names of the places we have been today... hehehe Hey, I'm coconut, not Asian...

Anyway... I think tonight we are off to see some Real Thai Boxing! Should be fun... And tomorrow... I think we might head off on a day adventure and see some Elephants or even visit the zoo and see some PANDAS! Yeah!

Oh yeah... We gave in today and had subway for lunch... hahaha... It just got to the point where it was easier than finding a reputable "safe" Thai place to eat... and we are getting a little tired of rice... Well I am... and we have like 2 weeks left of it... haha!

Hope everyone back home is well and good... Please give my little Elli lots of kisses and cuddles for me... I miss her lots!! She's probably having a ball and not even thinking about me at all...

Love you.... Peace Out! x x x

PS - Guess what... We're engaged... Oh wait, that was the last holiday.... Hahaha... No exciting news as yet of this holiday... Since we're MARRIED already hehehe...
Bangkok and Chiangmai...
So we're now in Chiangmai.. after a looooooooooong train ride... 12 hours to be exact... Train ride was comfortable for about 5 minutes... Then the complaining started... from me... hehehe

Bangkok was dirty and smelly and all round not that great... Well, the temples were nice... but the smog really just ruins it... Yesterday was our first "non-travelling day" and was ok... Some interesting encounters.

1. We missed breakfast... :'( Since we didn't wake til 9:30am... We didn't actually arrive at our hotel until 3am... That's 5am Brissy time... and we left home at 11:30am... Anyway - Breakfast finished at 10:00am... Doh! So we started our day on an empty tummy unfortunately...

2. Interesting bus trip... We got the number 74 bus to... nowhere... We were trying to get to the train station (Via uncle Brian's instructions). We were told to get the 109 bus, so we did and we made it!! We booked our train tickets out of stinky Bangkok to Chiangmai... We wanted to break the trip up by staying the night somewhere along the way, but we didn't realise that you you needed a ticket for every stop.. We were led up some stairs... (I wasnervous at first) to a travel agency and we spoke to a lovely young Thai Boy who spoke good Engrish.. He booked our accomodation here in Chiangmai as well as our flight to Phuket later in the week... Nioce young fellow.

3. Had a few interesting tuk tuk trips... (Nearly coughed up a lung after the first one) And a few disagreements about said "THAI EXPORT CENTRES". We were warned about this in the LP guide, but it's very sneaky how they do it... The first time, we said NO! and the second time we gave in due to crazy circumstances... Long story! In short - Bossy Thai marfia, powerless but nice tuk tuk driver, thai export centre, tuk tuk driver meltdown and confession, Adam and Nee give poor tuk tuk driver 200baht and call it a day and snag a taxi home.

4. We saw some temples and buddhas, the reclining buddha was the most impressive. We will catch a few other sights on the way back... Such as the Grand Palace, as we were lied to about it being closed. Another long story, very similar to the previous one!

5. Went to the Suan Lum Night Bazaar... Was.... Interesting. As soon as we arrived, we were stalked by about 7 people from different bars/food stalls all trying to get us to order from their bar/stall. Saw some live Thai Pop singers... Sining western music in Thai... not bad actually... :D Were offered a ping-pong show twice... Hahahaha by the same guy. Had a look at the night markets while we were there... My wish list is about as long as the Mekong! hahaha!

There are probably a million things that I have forgotten to write about but this computer is crud! And the key board is weird...

So for now... Hope everyone is well and actually reading my blog... Seriously... If I don't start getting some comments, I'll stop writing... or worse... I'll start spaming!!

First Stop - Brunei
So... after a 7 hour flight.. we are now in Brunei... In the airport for 4 hours... yay for us - thank God for the internet! :D

Our flight was pretty good, only a little bit of turbulence... We went with Royal Brunei and I can say they are great to fly with... the amount of food and beverages says it all... The way to a Tongan's heart is through their tummy!

Pretty full flight, no annoying kids kicking my seat... just a young chick beside us who drank almost an entire bottle of Johnny Walker during the flight... She said it was to calm her nerves as she's a nervous flyer... Funny thing is, she's a flight attendant(in London)! Hahaha! Nice girl though...

My first "in flight" toilet experience... I thought I was going to be sucked down the toilet hole! Scary stuff...

We've just had a bite to eat here at the airport... Not the greatest food I've had all year...

Anyway.. I think I managed to keep myself fairly calm today before flying and leaving home and leaving my little baby... I get quite anxious when I travel and the lead up to it... I think it's just a fear of the unknown... Saying good-bye to Elli was ok... I did fight back the tears at the gate and tried not to drag it out too much.. I probably looked like a terrible Mum coz I didn't hold onto her for dear life before saying goodbye.. It would have ended in tears for sure.

Nothing else really to report... Other than I feel sick from eating too much chocolate.. Damn you duty free!! Actually... I don't even think it was duty free... hehe oh well..

Here's a quick story for you...

This morning, while I was getting ready to leave, I got an e-mail (through my blog) from a lady whose name is "Sharon"... That's not her Tongan name, but that's what she goes by. Anyway.. She asks me (rather desperately) if I might know some members of her family, Tongia Ahotahatolu (her Dad) and Meile and Manu Tongia (her grandparents)... A mystery... As Tongia Ahotahatolu is my uncle and Meile and Manu Tongia are my grandparents!!! I e-mailed her back and told her this and she was surprised to get such a quick e-mail back! And very excited to say the least... I called my aunty Tania to ask her about it... As there are a few hidden family type things that I know little to nothing about and turns out, she's my long lost cousin!!

Can anyone see a pattern forming here??? Remember this happened to me in Tonga... So...

Nee + Travelling = Finding long lost family members...

Anyway... It's very exciting... My aunty was over the moon... I can only hope my uncle feels the same way...

Here's Sharon's first "Tongia Contact" for those interested...

So that's my first post away from home... The net here is pretty good which is lucky but I'm not sure how often we'll be able to do this during our stay in Thailand...

Peace Out!

Love Nee x x x

PS - Forgot to mention... The flight to Ho Chi Minh City was cancelled! Why do I care about that?? Coz now that flight is combined with ours making our fligt longer as we have to stop there on the way to Thailand!! Arrrggghhhh!!!!

PPS - Sorry if this post is out of order and doesn't make much sense... I'm working on very little sleep... THe birds were chirping when I went to bed this morning...

Shit Hot Hens Night!
Nothing like a good night out to break the blog drought!

How to have a really good hens night???

1. Meet an unsuspecting bloke at high school and hang on to him reaaaaal tight.

2. Make some awesome mates at high school and hang on to them real tight.

3. Make some awesome mates at uni and hang on them real tight too.

4. Convince the sucker to marry you.

5. Call all your girlfriends and tell 'em you're gettin' hitched, wait for the dust to settle then hop on your bull and ride on over to the Dockside Comedy Club.

6. Have waaaaaaay to many drinks (with Love from Mrs Daly)

7. Scoot over to the Storey Bridge Hotel and tell the DJ he's a cock sucker with crappy taste in music, but stay anyway for a couple of drinks! (Be careful of strange out of towners who feel the need to try and kiss you)

8. Piss off into the Valley and tie your horse up at Elephant and Wheelbarrow.

9. Drink too much booze and dance til your tits nearly fall off (watch out for those random guys)!

10. Yak in the loos then get turfed out by fat security.

11. Get a lift in your friends, sisters sweet ride, all the way home.

12. Crawl into bed at about 3:30am...

13. Get out of bed 3 hours later coz you have to yak (again), take some panadol and get some water.

14. Go back to bed and sleep til your 2 year old daughter burts into the room and pours weet-bix all over you and open the curtains making the sun BURN your eyes!

15. Call your fiancé (whose turn it is tonight) to drag out the daughter kicking and screaming, roll over, moan and groan and sleep til 12!

It's that easy!

I had such a wonderful night with all my awesome friends! I couldn't have asked for a more successful night of fun! I have to say I am soooo proud of my mummy friend Dannii, who managed to stay out all night too, even though she has a 10 month old who likes to get up early!

Thank you girls! You'r the best and I can't wait to do it to you! Katie, look out dear... you're next!

Peace Out!
