Culture
Friday night and Saturday night I went with Adam to some African gigs and they were awesome! I had such a good time at both gigs and was amazed by the skill of the musicians and dancers. As I watched I noticed that I had goose bumps... That's a sign that your have been moved by what you are witnessing. I think the African culture is so beautiful. The people are so friendly and always smiling. Their traditional music is so powerful. It makes me want to move. In fact, it's a natural reaction... you can't stop your body from moving! If I wasn't so damn pregnant, I'd have shook my booty all night long.
Friday Night ~ African Express (presented by BEMAC)
This gig had two different groups perform at QPAC and they were both excellent! I really loved Jambeezi a group of Marimba players and drummers. The sounds made me want to move!
Saturday Night ~ Village to City (presented by Auyoka)
This gig had a bit of a story to it. It was in the Visy Theatre at the Power House and was quite intimate, as in we were nice and close to the band and the performers. It was awesome to share their culture with them. Might I also mention that my brother was in this gig. He played the drums (with Adam's drum kit) and he was pretty good, although, he always has been.
These kinds of events make you appreciate the diversity of Australia, and what I love most, is the freedom we have in this country to be diverse. What I also love, is there are many people who appreciate other cultures and show their appreciation by supporting what they do.
I hope you have some moving experiences with culture (if you haven't already)... Next time you get ehe chance, take it up... you;ll not regret it!
Bye...
