Bangkok and Chiangmai...
So we're now in Chiangmai.. after a looooooooooong train ride... 12 hours to be exact... Train ride was comfortable for about 5 minutes... Then the complaining started... from me... hehehe

Bangkok was dirty and smelly and all round not that great... Well, the temples were nice... but the smog really just ruins it... Yesterday was our first "non-travelling day" and was ok... Some interesting encounters.

1. We missed breakfast... :'( Since we didn't wake til 9:30am... We didn't actually arrive at our hotel until 3am... That's 5am Brissy time... and we left home at 11:30am... Anyway - Breakfast finished at 10:00am... Doh! So we started our day on an empty tummy unfortunately...

2. Interesting bus trip... We got the number 74 bus to... nowhere... We were trying to get to the train station (Via uncle Brian's instructions). We were told to get the 109 bus, so we did and we made it!! We booked our train tickets out of stinky Bangkok to Chiangmai... We wanted to break the trip up by staying the night somewhere along the way, but we didn't realise that you you needed a ticket for every stop.. We were led up some stairs... (I wasnervous at first) to a travel agency and we spoke to a lovely young Thai Boy who spoke good Engrish.. He booked our accomodation here in Chiangmai as well as our flight to Phuket later in the week... Nioce young fellow.

3. Had a few interesting tuk tuk trips... (Nearly coughed up a lung after the first one) And a few disagreements about said "THAI EXPORT CENTRES". We were warned about this in the LP guide, but it's very sneaky how they do it... The first time, we said NO! and the second time we gave in due to crazy circumstances... Long story! In short - Bossy Thai marfia, powerless but nice tuk tuk driver, thai export centre, tuk tuk driver meltdown and confession, Adam and Nee give poor tuk tuk driver 200baht and call it a day and snag a taxi home.

4. We saw some temples and buddhas, the reclining buddha was the most impressive. We will catch a few other sights on the way back... Such as the Grand Palace, as we were lied to about it being closed. Another long story, very similar to the previous one!

5. Went to the Suan Lum Night Bazaar... Was.... Interesting. As soon as we arrived, we were stalked by about 7 people from different bars/food stalls all trying to get us to order from their bar/stall. Saw some live Thai Pop singers... Sining western music in Thai... not bad actually... :D Were offered a ping-pong show twice... Hahahaha by the same guy. Had a look at the night markets while we were there... My wish list is about as long as the Mekong! hahaha!

There are probably a million things that I have forgotten to write about but this computer is crud! And the key board is weird...

So for now... Hope everyone is well and actually reading my blog... Seriously... If I don't start getting some comments, I'll stop writing... or worse... I'll start spaming!!

Love Nee x x x
