back in Bangkok
After a nice long wait in Krabi airport and a short plane ride we arrived in Don Muang Airport in Bangkok. It's interesting flying into Bangkok during daytime, as there is no visible horizon. Looking out the window I could see some farming land through a thick haze, then between the ground and the sky, all you could see is a big wad of grey smog. No definitive horizon line whatsoever!
Finding our way to Classic Place hotel was simple enough. We found a free shuttle bus run by Thai Airways to a subway station about 15 minutes away. We then hopped on the ultra-cool subway and got off at Petchaburi station and walked around the corner.
I was really impressed by the efficiency of the subway station. Instead of a paper ticket you get these cool little plastic tokens. To get on at a station you just tap it on these machines which let you through the gates. On your way out of the station you deposit it in the machine, and it opens the gates again for you. Also, it's impossible to jump onto the tracks, as the tracks are lined with a glass wall, where the automatic doors line up with the train doors and only open when the train is stopped. Pretty cool! It was nice and fast too, although crowded when we were using it (around 6:30pm).
Tonight we made our way into the huge MBK shopping centre and had a bite to eat. Unfortunately it closes at 10pm and we only arrived at 8:30pm. So after dinner (Japanese Teppanyaki - yum) we only really had time for an ice-cream at Baskin Robbins and the internet (which we are on at the moment). We had to message Andrea to find out where she developed her photos.
I can hear the doors closing now so I think we better head off. Take care, and only 2 more sleeps until we come home!!! Wee weee!!! Shopping tomorrow. Nee's told me how much money she expects to spend tomorrow. 10,000 Baht!!! We'll see how that pans out. We might have to catch a boat home.
Miss you guys so much and can't wait to see all of these pics!
